Preparation of the Chemicals

This guide sets forth the procedure for the correct dissolution of the powders, an operation common to all developers of our production, upon which the good success of the photographic process depends.

Ere the film be placed within the tank, much of the fortune of the development is already determined, for a chemistry poorly prepared can never restore constant results, however scrupulous the subsequent handling. We set forth below the procedure common to all our powder developers, alike for the base bath as for the regeneration thereof.

Procedure for one litre of developer:

1. Prepare a graduated jug of one litre or of greater capacity.

2. Pour hot demineralized water (50/60 °C) until reaching 400 ml.

3. Add the contents of sachet A and stir until the powders are completely dissolved.

4. Add the contents of sachet B and stir, so as to avoid deposits at the bottom.

5. Pour room-temperature demineralized water (20/24 °C) until reaching the total volume of one litre.

6. Stir until the powders are completely dissolved, obtaining a perfectly transparent liquid.

The same procedure, employing the respective REGENERATION A and REGENERATION B sachets, holds for the preparation of the regeneration bath.

Of the eventual residue:

Should, once the processing temperature is attained, a precipitate of grains or dust manifest itself within the solution, it is recommended to proceed to filtration by means of a disposable filter. An economical yet assuredly effective expedient are filters for American coffee.
